Cut packaging waste and come and refill your own bottles with locally made, sustainable household detergents every Thursday at the Rusty Bicycle Cultivate stop 3pm-8pm.

“In the UK alone we use 35 million plastic bottles every day and as many as 16 million of these go unrecycled – ending up on our beaches, in landfill and in our oceans.” – Greenpeace.

SESI has been helping cut all kinds of packaging waste since 2006.  So far, they have refilled about 40,000 plastic bottles alone with the help of Oxfordshire residents.

SESI will now be appearing alongside the Cultivate VegVan at the Rusty Bicycle refilling washing-up liquid , bio and non-bio laundry liquid, fabric softener, multisurface cleaner, dishwasher tablets and others.

East Oxford Farmers’ & Community Market @ East Oxford Primary School, Oxford
Jul 22 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm

The East Oxford Farmers’ & Community Market is a small, friendly local market which can provide the staples for your weekly shop, all from sources within 30 miles of Oxford: bread, eggs, milk, vegetables, cheese, various meats, refills for cleaning supplies – as well as a range of other products such as jewellery, clothing and secondhand books.

It has been running since August 2006, and is a non-profit making organisation, run by a committee and a group of volunteers.

We are passionate about the market and what it sells. We actively source food from within 30 miles of Oxford and encourage community stalls run by local residents. We also offer Fairtrade produce from further afield and try to make sure it comes to us by land or ship. Further details are available in our Market Manifesto.

The market has a cafe which runs each week selling delicious breakfasts, lunches, cakes and fair-trade teas and coffee. This is a lovely place to meet up and take a break from shopping.

Become a fan of the market on Facebook – see our East Oxford Farmers’ Market Facebook page.

Smoke and Thyme – Pay what your feel – Supper Club
Jul 22 @ 7:00 pm – 11:30 pm
Smoke and Thyme - Pay what your feel - Supper Club @ England | United Kingdom

All the upcoming dates are pay-what-you-want, and all are at my new(ish) Ferry Road location in the Marston/St Clements area.

I am testing out brand new dishes on these nights, be prepared to see such delights as:

  • Lobster and Leek Tart
  • Tonka Bean Madelines
  • Caramelised Mango Ice Cream
  • Yakitori Chicken Wings
  • Crispy Chickpea Salad
  • Eisenhower Steaks.
  • and more…

Based on experience I know that I’m always going to want to be tweaking dishes right up until the last moment, and as such I’m expecting the menus will not even be written until pretty much the day beforehand. Rather than battling this, I’m embracing it:  the dishes for all PWYW nights will NOT be announced in advance AT ALL – so if you’re coming, be prepared for a complete surprise (and be sure to let me know of any dietary restrictions when you book).

As ever, I will be asking guests to fill in feedback forms on the night to let me know what you thought of the dishes.
